Treat Every Customer Like a Star

What would you do if Taylor Swift, LeBron James, or Sandra Bullock called your service center? Would you treat them like any other customer with a question or complaint?

It’s tempting to say “yes,” but the answer is probably “no.”

In the December issue of Customer Communicator, the training and motivation newsletter for frontline reps, author Scott McKain suggests that you would treat a star differently. You would give them what is called “celebrity service.” Service that is just a little bit better than your usual excellent service.

If you can treat every customer like a celebrity you will see improved customer satisfaction, increased customer retention, and more positive customer interactions. It starts, McKain says, by showing customers that you value and respect them.
